Add at least one fish to your roster, then we'll suggest tankmates and plants that fit.

Your roster saves in this browser. Copy the URL to keep it forever or share it. Bioload methodology lives on the methodology page.

What this calculates

The bioload number is based on adult fish size, species activity level, and your filtration rating. It's a percentage estimate of how heavily stocked your tank is.

Schooling species get flagged if you've got fewer than the recommended group size. Tetras need 6 or more, corydoras need 6 or more, rasboras prefer 8+. The tool will warn you if you're under.

What this doesn't do

It doesn't predict aggression. Two species can have compatible water needs and still kill each other. Read up on temperament before stocking.

It also doesn't know about your tank's footprint. A 75 gallon tank is the same volume as a 90 gallon tank but with very different floor space. Bottom dwellers care about footprint, not gallons.
